Ifelodun LCDA Establishes Security Movement, Peace Ambassadors

Mr Olufemi Okeowo, the Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has inaugurated the Security Movement and Peace Ambassadors to ensure peaceful coexistence among residents.

Okeowo, in his remarks during the inauguration on Thursday, said that peaceful coexistence remained a vital component of a healthy and prosperous community.

According to him, peaceful coexistence creates a positive environment for growth and development, promotes social cohesion and unity, and is essential for economic development and the well-being of individuals.

“In a peaceful community, people can live and work together in safety, without fear or anxiety, and with a sense of belonging and mutual respect.

“All these are what our people could not enjoy during the past administration as residents returning from their workplaces will have to place a call to their relatives to know if they should return home or not.

“The usual calling was “Abeg, shey Apasa and Market Street boys no dey fight oo”.

“Some are “I want know if Ojo Road dey calm before I enter motor dey come house”. All those anxiety has become a thing of the past.

“Ojo Road, Apasa, Market Street, Campus, Imam, Alao, Amukoko and all other areas that are fond of inflicting excruciating pains on easy-going residents, maiming countless ladies and turning their rivals into “Omo Eru” whenever they caught themselves at the battlefield are now hitherto serene devoid of troubles.

“They now mingle within themselves day and night without the usual fight that used to resort to violence,” the chairman said.

Okeowo said that all these security challenges brought the establishment of the Ifelodun Security Movement and the Peace Ambassadors.

He said that the Peace Corp established would work hand in hand with the police to give information and prompt interventions in case of emergency.

The chairman, however, urged the residents to cooperate with the Corps to ensure peace and development in the area.
